Geometry in Life
One day ‘hands on’ workshop/lecture
With
‘hands on activities’ we shall beging to explore
some ancient teachings, ‘fundamental’ truths,
pertaining to ‘primary numbers’ and their ‘forms’.
Starting with hints from Pythagoras and Plato, in
turn both influenced by Egyptian so-called
‘mysteries’, we shall proceed to dip into the
Chartres Teaching School of the early Middle Ages
to discover its efforts, with a curriculum that
spanned seven years, to unite the mathematical
teachings of Islam with a nature based
Christianity. Their vehicle of study was through
the Seven Female Liberal Arts – Wisdom’s
daughters. Focusing on one – Geometrica – we shall
consider hints towards a healing attitude of the
‘psychology of the depths’, a required ‘medicine’
for our survival into the Twenty first Century.
